Spring

If you’re like me, you’re counting down to the start of the spring season. I’ve been itching to get back on the tennis court before I lose my rhythm. I don’t know about you, but I’m not cut out for outdoor tennis in winter. Thankfully I live in one of the few states with warmer climate this time of the year, so it looks like I may be able to scratch that itch sooner than later.

When you’re ready to make your return to the court, you’ll need some fresh gear to usher in the new year and season. And I’ve got the scoop on some of the latest spring styles you can add to your tennis wardrobe.

Let’s kick things off with pastel shades. Light pink, baby blue, salmon. Soft hues are common in the spring. If you’re timid when it comes to expression of colors, you’ll love experimenting with styles like these:

Stella

The adidas Women’s Stella McCartney Barricade Tennis Tank and adidas Women’s Stella McCartney Barricade Short. I love the way pink illustrates the design on this tank. It elevates what looks like a basic tank into a chic, classy top. Throw in the cut-out detail on its back, also highlighted in pink, and you have a winner! Plus its integrated bra gives you great support. Sports fans may be more accustomed to seeing the barricade short on track and field athletes, but I think it’s a great addition to the tennis style. Tennis pro Maria Kirilenko thinks so too, because she’ll be rocking it this season. Unlike track shorts, which are more tapered, these are loose and raised so you can tuck your ball into the tight easily.

Peplum

What’s not to love about the FILA Women’s Collezione Peplum Tennis Top with its chic, lace peplum hem. It’s extremely flattering to all shapes and sizes, and even comes with wider arm holes so it’s easier to swing away with. You can’t help but be the belle of the court in this cute top!

Show your aggressive fashion flair with new colorblock styles. I’m talking bold, bright colors paired together for a major Va Va Voom effect that’ll definitely get you noticed! Here’s a good example with the adidas Adizero Tennis Dress, which Ana Ivanovic wore at the 2015 Australian Open.

Adizero

The 3-in-1 package you’re getting with this racerback dress (with built-in bra and short included) isn’t just a reference to its components, it’s also about the colors! Pairing soft pink, flash red and light flash green into one look is not only very attractive, it’s genius!

Nike Colorblock

The Nike Women’s Pure Short Sleeve Tennis Top has a ton of bold colors that’s perfect for layering or pairing with other color options. I paired it with the Nike Women’s Court Tennis Skirt, which features three colors on a sleek, A-line silhouette. The best thing about this pair is you can mix and match many colors among its options.

Finally, if you don’t own an item in graphic print, what are you waiting for? Graphics offer a happy medium between soft, pastel colors and audacious colorblock shades. With graphic prints, you can highlight your edgy style, but with some restraint on color.

VenusThe EleVen Women’s Aussie Tennis Dress by Venus Williams is a good example of this trend. If you’re familiar with Venus Williams, you know she’s got a quiet personality, but there’s nothing quiet about her tennis game. She’s the epitome of power and dominance on the court, and this print dress combines both her quiet and bold personas into a winning look. You can spot her rocking this dress at the 2015 Australian Open.

Nike Graphic

You can also opt for the Nike Women’s Advantage Printed Tank and Slam Printed Tennis Capri with “zig-zag” graphics. The tank also plays off of the quiet versus bold dichotomy, starting off in white at the shoulders, then gradually working its way down to the boldest shade of the print. I paired it with the Capri legging for the ideal spring look during colder temperatures, but if that isn’t a factor, then the Nike Women’s Victory Printed Tennis Skirt might be your preferred choice. World No. 4 Petra Kvitova paired the skirt with this short sleeve version of  the tank for her debut at the 2015 Australian Open, and you can shop for it here.
