Nike expands their lightweight and dynamic Vapor line with the introduction of the Air Max Vapor Wing MS. Designed to deliver lightweight, durable performance, this shoe also incorporates a slick look that makes it great for courtside casual wear. They offer excellent ventilation, and a soft underfoot sensation. Let’s take a closer look at what makes these shoes unique:
Nike Air Max Vapor Wing MS Tennis Shoes
Translucent Textile
The straps visible on the lateral side of the Vapor Wing are actually the shoe’s Dynamic Fit system. You can see them thanks to translucent textile that offers unmatched ventilation, and a unique look you can’t find anywhere else.
Max Air
A Max Air unit in the heel offers soft cushioning with each step. It’s visible on the lateral side, as well as from the rear, but hidden on the medial side for greater protection while sliding. We previously saw this technology incorporated into the Wildcard, but it’s about time a Vapor gets its day if you ask us.
Forefoot Protection
The Vapor Wing is designed to be lightweight and breathable, but also durable enough to handle the rigors of tennis. In the forefoot, perforated textile is protected by additional rubber around the toe.
Overall Stability
While the shoe largely relies on breathable textiles for lightweight performance, we also see a number of strategically-placed synthetic overlays for better protection and structure. The beefy midsole does a good job of adding torsional stability, as well.
Generative Outsole
Characteristic of the Vapor line, the Vapor Wing offers a generative design that uses data to place traction along the perimeter of the outsole for grip where it’s needed the most. “MS” in the name of the shoe stands for “Multi Surface”.
Fit and Sizing
Our playtesters felt the Vapor Wing ran a bit slim and short. We recommend ordering up 1/2 size. The arch was relatively standard for Nike, being mid to low.
