The Laver Cup is an annual tournament involving six of the best men’s tennis players from Europe against six players from around the rest of the world. First held in 2017, the competition has seen the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and more. While this year we won’t see Nadal or Djokovic, the tournament still boasts a star-studding cast of players, promising to showcase the best tennis in the world.

The Laver Cup is a singles and doubles tournament, including Team Europe coach, Bjorn Borg, and Team World coach, John McEnroe. Therefore, players will compete in both singles matches and doubles matches. The first team to reach 13 points out of a possible 24 is the winner. If teams are tied 12 to 12 on the final day, a final doubles match will be played to determine the winner of the tournament. “Both singles and doubles are best of three sets with ad scoring. In the event of split sets, the third set is a 10-point match tiebreaker,” according to the Laver Cup.

A single match win on day one is worth one point, on day two a match win is worth two points, and on the third and final day matches are worth three points.
