Novak Djokovic has been on a tear for the last year and a half. He’s won 4 of the last 5 Grand Slams, and 2 of 3 so far this year. If he can take the 2019 US Open title, as he’s favored to do, he will move to 17 Grand Slam victories in his career, and one behind fellow-all-time-great Rafael Nadal. To celebrate the occasion, ASICS has come out with another colorway for Novak’s signature shoe. The US Open Court FF Novak will feature an Electric Blue and White colorway that will surely stand out on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, let’s first take a look back at what Novak Djokovic has been able to accomplish this year in his new ASICS shoes after switching from the formidable GEL-Resolution 7.
The Australian Open
Novak Djokovic played his first Major in his new Court FF Novaks at this year’s Australian Open. It was a bit surprising to see the World #1 switch out of his signature GEL-Resolution 7s, but there was no questioning the result, as he took down Rafael Nadal in straight sets.
The French Open
Novak had a very strong clay-court season. He won in Madrid, and reached the final in Rome. In Paris, it looked like we might be treated to a Rafa-Djokovic rematch. Both men dominated the field on their way to the semis, but it was not meant to be. In a tight, 5-set match, Dominic Thiem took down Djokovic to advance to his second consecutive French Open final.
Wimbledon
At the Championships, Novak battled his way to a historic final against perhaps the greatest Wimbledon champion of all time: Roger Federer. Record after record was broken as Djokovic defended his title in the tournament’s first final set tie break. This came after staving off a remarkable two championship points.
The US Open
It now comes down to the final Major of the year. The US Open will begin on Monday, August 26. Without further ado, here is ASICS’ official video featuring the new US Open colorway of the Court FF Novak!
