Ask a Tennis Expert (Ep. 2)

Ask a Tennis Expert Episode 2 blog

We’re back again answering some of your tennis questions! Whether you’re looking for gear recommendations, or tips to improve your technique, our tennis experts are here to help. Head on over to the  “Ask an Expert” form to send in your query!

To the questions we received this week, here’s what the Tennis Express experts had to say:

1. Best tennis shoe for overpronation?

– Fred McAuley

Overpronation is a common problem tennis players suffer from, but not all shoes are able to help. Players will want a tennis shoe with more arch support and lateral support to help with your pronation or “inward” rolling of the ankle. You can also further enhance the cushioning with a thicker insole. Below are some great shoes to try. For more information on pronation and supination, click here.

2. Best racquet for a beginner tennis player just starting out?

– Anirudh Suresh Ramchandran

The answer to this will differ for everyone since it really comes down to personal preference and your playing style or tendencies, which you will start to discover more as you spend more time on the court. Here are some different options depending on where you think your strengths may lie:

Babolat Drive G Pre-Strung Tennis Racquet

The Babolat Drive G pre-strung tennis racquet is one of our most popular beginner racquets because it’s lightweight, powerful and comfortable.

Wilson Burn 100S Pre-Strung Tennis Racquet

The Wilson Burn 100S pre-strung tennis racquet is another great option. It has a very open string pattern to help with generating spin, and graphite construction that has a solid and durable structure.

Head Graphene Laser MP Tennis Racquet

Another great option is the HEAD Graphene Laser MP tennis racquet. It features a spacious sweet spot and is made with 100% graphite for better durability.

Babolat Boost S Pre-Strung Tennis Racquet

Our last option is the Babolat Boost S pre-strung tennis racquet. It’s a great beginner’s performance racquet at a great price point to try out, so you can figure out your playing style and preferences!

That’s all for today, but feel free to keep submitting your questions to our “Ask an Expert” form and well get back to you as quickly as possible. Thanks for sharing!
