While winter is always a slow period for player news, just about every tennis brand releases a flurry of new products to prepare you for the coming season. It’s a lot to keep up with, so we’re highlighting some of our favorite tennis shoes released for 2020 thus far. We have a lot of really heavy hitters in this list, so in no particular order, here they are:
Adidas Stycon
We had to start out with the shoe that’s created the most buzz so far. This exceptionally stable and durable shoe from adidas is unlike anything else on the market today. It features a laceless construction that still offers a nice, locked-in fit.
New Balance FuelCell 996v4
This shoe is a must try for players seeking a fast, comfortable, and durable performance model. It’s significantly lighter than the 996v3, and is a favorite of many of our playtesters.
ASICS GEL-Resolution 8
ASICS’ premium durability shoe gets more comfortable and responsive with the addition of FlyteFoam midsole technology. We also see the addition of several stability features, upping the performance of an already immensely-popular line.
Diadora Speed Blushield 4
This is another extremely comfortable shoe that, in fact, offers some of the best forefoot cushioning in the game. It’s highly durable, and more breathable than the last model, while still offering a comfortably-wide fit.
Wilson Kaos 3.0 SFT
This update introduces a re-engineered upper that cuts weight, and replaces traditional laces with a quicklace system. The shoes are very light, responsive, and comfortable. If you prefer a traditional fit, try Wilson’s new Kaos 3.0.
Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 4
Mizuno’s premium performance shoe has switched to an American last, meaning the all-around model is now an average width compared to the previous version’s narrow width. You can expect excellent support, agility, and protection from this shoe, as well as a unique running shoe feel.
Nike Vapor Cage 4
The newest Cage picks up “Vapor” in its name to let players know this version is designed to be faster and more responsive than previous iterations. You can still expect excellent durability, stability, support, and cushioning from this update.
K-Swiss Hypercourt Supreme
The Hypercourt family has expanded to include a higher-performance model in the Supreme. This shoe features a slightly slimmer fit than the Hypercourt Express, and an inner bootie construction that promises a more dynamic, all-around experience. If you’re a stickler for the old fit, make sure to check out the new Hypercourt Express 2.
HEAD Sprint Pro 3.0
The latest Sprint Pro from HEAD remains lightweight, breathable, and dynamic for players seeking fast footwear. Among other tweaks with this update, the traditional tongue from the 2.5 is replaced with a half-sleeve construction for a form-fitting feel.
