Reebok is Back
Though Reebok has some extensive lineage as a tennis brand, they have been absent for almost two decades. Enter the Reebok Nano Court Training Shoes. The shoe borrows from Reebok’s impressive fitness-focused footwear to deliver a stout workout shoe that can function as a capable court shoe for Tennis, Padel, Pickleball, and Racquetball.
Reebok Nano Court Shoe Details
The Nano Court features some interesting details at first glance. There are models with unisex sizing and women’s specific styles to help you get the best fit. The brand used a vast array of colors, ranging from vibrant and bold to more subtle black and white to cater to a variety of consumer tastes. As far as the specific features of the Nano Court, let’s start from the ground up. The non-marking outsole is constructed of GRIPTONITE rubber and features a herringbone pattern for traction on any surface. Floatride Energy Foam cushioning has some nice give without putting the foot too high off the ground. A TPU Heel Clip creates support for the heel section, and rubber wraps help stabilize the lateral side of the shoe. The Flexweave® woven textile upper provides resilient stretch with zoned stability yarns for targeted support. The upper breathability is further enhanced by the bootie construction which provides a seamless lockdown fit.
Training
Reebok is no stranger to fitness footwear, which might be the best use for the Nano Court. Weight lifters will love the ground connection provided by the Nano Court. The shoe is agile enough for high-intensity interval training sessions because of its versatility. In a pinch, the Nano Court can work for short-distance runs, though it will not provide the same bounce and propulsion as a running-specific shoe will.
Pickleball
The Nano Court is a very capable pickleball shoe. It has strong lateral support and the shoe sits close to the court surface which creates confidence. The heel cushioning is enough for long matches, and playing in hotter conditions is a breeze thanks to the breathable upper design. The most aggressive movers might prefer more medial toe drag protection, but the Nano Court should suffice for most recreational play.
Tennis
The Nano Court can work as a recreational tennis shoe. It has enough support to give you confidence in your movement and feel safe tracking down each ball. Frequent tennis players will prefer a shoe with more medial drag protection and better durability but the Nano Court is a unique option for frequent travelers who don’t want to pack multiple pairs of shoes.
Playtester Comments
Annie: “The level of comfort in these shoes surprised me. They were a little stiff when I first put them on but as I started playing in them they were very comfortable! I even wear them to work out in, it’s a very versatile shoe.”
Dasia: “I used them at the gym last night, and I honestly loved them, they are true to size, so they fit perfectly, they are very lightweight and comfortable! It didn’t take long for me to break them in.”
Sam: “It is nice to see Reebok actively making court shoes again. The Nano Court colorways are available in bright colors and the more basic black and white. I wore the shoes for the gym and they offered the perfect amount of support during HIIT. I forgot my running shoes and I went for a short run in the Nano Court. Though not designed for running specifically they held up well for distances under 5k.
The shoe performed well during pickleball and provided a close connection to the court. On the tennis court, I was comfortable enough playing in the Nano Court every once in a while. I would probably wear a heavier-duty shoe when playing tennis most of the time because the Nano Court doesn’t offer the type of toebox protection as the best tennis shoes.”
Alex: “The knit fabric upper looks and feels high-end and allows great breathability. When I tried them on I was happy with the cushion and the fit. After a quick break-in, they were feeling great on the court.”
More to Come?
Hopefully, this is just the start of Reebok making court shoes again. Tennis legends Michael Chang, Andy Roddick, Patrick Rafter, and Venus Williams wore Reebok back in the day. The company seems to be on the right track with Shaq rejoining the brand as the President of Basketball. Take a look at the new Reebok Nano Court and all the different colorways at Tennis Express!
