Roger Federer said it best: “You have to feel confident in your shoe.” Well, 2018 just started and the 19-time Grand Slam winner has already let the latest generation Vapor X give him the juice to launch the talked-about shoe even higher on the winner scale.
At Australia’s Hopman Cup at Perth Arena, Federer wore what would be expected, the shoe he proclaimed he owes all of his success – the Nike Air Zoom Vapor X in White with the black Nike Swoosh and a black sock-line. Many other players, including some the popular top ten ranked, have played hard to decorate this shoe with a total 25 major titles won.
Did you know Federer opened up and shared his court experiences and feedback with Nike shoe designers? From there they created changes from the Vapor 9 and 9.5. Not only is this lighter than older models, Nike advanced the amount of flexibility through open air mesh, improved comfort with a larger toe bumper, and enhanced traction through varying densities in the outsole’s new traction pattern (above.)
On Day 8 in Perth Federer knelt in his new kicks next to the Hopman Cup trophy he and fellow Switzerland player Belinda Bencic won. He defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6-7(4), 6-0, 6-2. The white pair Federer donned above are available in a normal and wide fit shoe.
The wait is now less than one week until the Australian Open keeps tennis fans up to the wee hours of the morning. Roger’s second Vapor X that he stepped out in this year are the Aussie series sneakers (above) fashioned in Nike’s spring collection colors Lava Glow with Black.
Federer was seen in these on Tuesday at Melbourne Park practicing his serve and volleys. In contrast is the signature RF logo at the heel in Lava Glow that nearly wraps around the whole shoe near the black Swoosh. The non stop consistent excellence from Federer and his winning pair give us hope that together they could be taking the next major win, down under!
