Tecnifibre, the racquet brand of choice for grand slam champions Daniil Medvedev and Iga Swiatek, has refreshed the most control-oriented racquet line with the TF40 v3. All the models are for tennis players with long and fast swings who can generate power independently. The new lineup includes a new 290-gram variation, as well as 305-gram and 315-gram versions. Each model features Tecnifibre’s RS Sharp Section 21.7-millimeter beam with foam inside to aid with vibration dampening for added comfort and stability. When you add the TF40s to the TFight and TFx1 silos, Tecnifibre has diverse racquet offerings for different abilities and game styles.
The Look
Tecnifibre refreshed the cosmetics on the TF40 racquets for v3 with a white base enhanced by khaki and fluorescent orange touches with a modern tech camo at the tip of the racquet head. While these racquets are classic, with no frills control frames, the refreshed look is decidedly contemporary.
New TF40 290
The 290 is the lightest racquet in the TF40 catalog. It also has the rare distinction of being an under 300-gram racquet filled with foam. For aspiring juniors with a full-stroke style, the TF40 290 offers impressive mobility and boatloads of control. This model is the perfect platform racquet for any tinkerers to customize to your needs.
From the Practice Court
“What is immediately apparent from a few hitting sessions, is how comfortable the TF40 290 is. While most control racquets feature heavier weights, this is incredibly mobile and well-dampened. Lighter doesn’t mean more powerful, so this racquet is perfect for players who swing out on their shots and produce their own power. It was easy to pick up and play, and a pleasure to stalk the baseline and hit groundstrokes with the TF40 290.” -TE Playtester
TF40 305
10.8 ounces is a very common weight these days, and the TF40 line provides a couple of choices. For those who prefer to play with more net clearance and spin, the 16×19 pattern is an easy decision. However, players with a flatter ball flight, who crave the utmost control, will love the dense 18×20 string pattern. Frequent string breakers will love the added durability from the 18×20 as well.
TF40 315
This model features the open 16×19 string pattern and an 11.1-ounce unstrung weight. However, the 315 is pretty easy to swing thanks to the more headlight balance. So it is on the heavier side, but it moves very well through the air on faster swings. Elite players will love the all-court characteristics and tour-level stability of the TF40 315.
Not Just Control
The TF40 is a legit control racquet. But Tecnifibre specifically constructed the grommets to be wider and longer which makes the sweet spot larger and more forgiving. Though they are designed with control in mind, this feature makes the racquets more user-friendly than a run-of-the-mill control frame. Find the new TF40s and more at Tennis Express.
