Designer Marimekko
Since the 1950’s Marimekko has been creating furnishings, textiles, and show-stopping fashions. Based in Helsinki, Finland, the company is best known for its brightly colored prints that empower people to express their inner joy. Their patterns are distinctively bold. Incendentily, they have two designers Vuokko Nurmesniemi and Maija Isola. Together, they’ve created hundreds of patterns. Marimekko is now a household name.
Adidas elected to use a handful of patterns through this collaboration. One of their choices was Marimekko’s most popular to date. It is the poppy pattern, also referred to as Unikko. Its concept was born in 1964 when designer Maija Isola wanted to expand to organic and floral prints. Up to that point, most of their designs were abstract prints. But the flower has power. It is a creative reminder that inspires women worldwide.

Another piece to review is the Adidas Women’s Marimekko Primeblue Aeroready Y-Back Tennis Tank in Halo Blush and Black. This tank mimics some of the dress’s qualities with a low-rounded neck and Y-back strap.
