We have known adidas to provide some unique concepts to the tennis apparel market for quite some time. Recently we saw the esteemed brand collaborate with Parley for the 2019 Australian Open in creating an environmentally-friendly clothing collection which took the market by storm.
For the 2019 clay court season, adidas is offering their Escouade collection, pronounced “es-koo-aide,” which promotes bold and unexpected designs with lightweight breathable mesh fabrics. This collection follows a similar trend to the 2018 US Open Barricade collection but with more color and a sleeker design.

You will see players like Sascha Zverev, Lucas Pouille and Stefanos Tsitsipas, all rocking a similar style during the clay court season – the Men’s Escouade Tennis Top. This high performance tee features updated ClimaLite technology along with mesh fabrication for a natural hand feel and superb ventilation in hot temperatures. What makes this top unique is the design on the sides which are also mesh-lined for enhanced breathability and style. Adidas gives players four different color variations to choose from that are fashionable for seasons to come.
For those that want to show a little more class, there is the Men’s Escouade Tennis Polo worn on-court by Dominic Thiem and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. This polo features a bold asymmetrical verbiage print throughout, offering a subtle trendy style. The shorter rib collar, zippered placket and slimmer fit give it a more modern, enhanced look. Similar to the Escouade top, it has updated ClimaLite technology with mesh fabrication to give you excellent breathability when you are performing under pressure.

To match the polo and top, players can choose between three basic colors of the Men’s Escouade 7 Inch Tennis Shorts. We can see that adidas has been providing slightly shorter inseams on their tennis shorts in the most recent years. This trend has become popular again because of the slimming style that shows off other aspects of the short and doesn’t limit or weigh players down when they move. A key material upgrade with this short is the perforated stretch woven fabric. This allows for even more breathability whenever you wear the short and is combined with ClimaLite technology to protect against sweat.
Some additional options included in this collection are the Men’s Escouade Jacket, Q2 V-Neck Graphic Tee, Paris Graphic Tee and Category Graphic Tee. The Escouade jacket has an unparalleled mesh checkered design which gives it intriguing style. The Q2 V-neck is a modern style performance tee which utilizes a refined adidas logo and premium cotton/polyester blended fabric for even better feel. This same premium fabric is also incorporated in the Paris Graphic Tee and Category Graphic Tee.
Adidas Escouade Clothing for Women
The adidas Women’s Escouade collection will show off a little more of the lightweight mesh fabrications to give it a more daring look. Garbine Muguruza and Kiki Mladenovic are rocking the Women’s Escouade Tennis Dress. The top part of the dress will be fitted and uses a “fish-net” like style. The pleated skirt incorporates solid and mesh fabrics which give it chic contrasting detail. ClimaCool technology and recycled polyester material help this dress battle sweat just like you do on the court.

Coming in similar styles are the Women’s Escouade Tennis Tank and Escouade Tennis Top which are worn by Angie Kerber, Caroline Wozniacki, and Jelena Ostapenko. The two main differences between these tops are the location of mesh fabrication and sleeve length. Both will come in a cropped length and slimmer sporty silhouettes which for a figure-hugging look. The tank features mesh on the back and has dropped armholes that expose the contrasting colored bra. The top will cover just over the shoulders and has mesh on the upper front/back for minimalistic style.

Adidas has decided to go back to a traditional looking Escouade Tennis Skirt with subtle design improvements to help players with performance. It’s made with woven color blocking fabric and CimaLite technology to still give plenty of flexibility. The four box pleats come together with contrasting color short to add some pizzazz.
Additional clothing options in the Women’s collection are the Escouade Long Sleeve Top, Paris Tennis Tank, and Category Graphic Tee. The Escouade Long Sleeve is not your traditional long sleeve as it features slits on the shoulder seams and sides of the hem for added breathability as well as style. The Paris Tank and Category Graphic Tees are modernized with a premium cotton/polyester blended material for even better feel.
