A new year brings on a new season for tennis bags! Most tennis pros will have updated bags when they come out onto the Australian Open stage. Today we will take a look at one of the biggest brands in the industry, Head, and see what changes they have made for their 2020 tennis bags.
Head Djokovic Tennis Bags
We saw Novak Djokovic dominate during the 2020 Australian Open and capture his 17th grand slam title earlier in the year. To coordinate with the new Speed racquets, Head has released their new lineup of Djokovic Tennis Bags which we saw Novak use down under. The 12R Monstercombi is the largest of the group carrying up to 12 tennis racquets, and features 2 main racquet compartments, one with Climate Control Plus Technology to help protect your racquets from the elements. In the middle are 2 separate compartments: one ventilated for shoes or wet apparel, while the other fits extra gear and accessories. There’s an additional interior accessory mesh pocket and on the outside are 2 small zippered pockets. On bottom are padded backpack straps and on top are grab handles for easy carrying.
Similar to the 12R Monstercombi is the Djokovic 6R Combi Tennis Bag. This bag essentially is the same as the 12 pack, but with a little less space in the middle. There’s 2 main racquet compartments to fit up to 6 racquets. One of the main racquet compartments is lined with CCT+ for extra protection. There’s no separate shoe compartment, but there is enough room in one of the large compartments to put your shoes or extra clothes. On the outsides are 2 zippered accessory pockets, and on the bottom are padded straps.
Lastly is the Djokovic Tennis Backpack which is perfect for players on-the-go or coaches. It has a slightly distinguished shape with round edges and an elegant black design so you can make a bold statement. The main back compartment is padded and fits up to 2 racquets securely with locking zippers. There’s another large compartment that has enough room for extra clothing, towels and even an ipad or tablet. On front is a smaller zippered pocket perfect for personal items like your cell phone, wallet or an extra set of string. On the sides are 2 smaller zip pockets for loose accessories, and on bottom is a separate ventilated shoe pocket. On the back are padded backpack straps along with mesh padding to protect your bag from getting sweaty after play.
Head Tour Team Tennis Bags
This is one of the brand’s long time signature bag lines that you’ll see most Head pros carrying on tour. This year though, Head has completely redesigned each bag to be more efficient in storage space and travel.
First is the Head Tour Team 12R Monstercombi Tennis Bag. This is a great bag for the frequent tournament or league player to carry up to 12 racquets as well as all your other essentials. There are 3 main racquet compartments, one with CCT+ to help protect your racquets from the elements. On the front is a ventilated pocket for shoes or wet apparel, and on each side are 2 medium sized accessory pockets for optional storage. The top features 2 adjustable shoulder straps and grab handles for easy carrying.
Next is the Tour Team 9R Supercombi Tennis bag. This one actually takes similarities from the 6R and 12R bags to create a unique option for frequent tennis players. Unlike the 12 pack, this 9 pack features 2 main compartments that are slightly wider for great racquet space and there’s one racquet compartment with CCT+ technology for protection. Now since there is more room in the main compartments, there won’t be a separate shoe pocket with this 9 pack, but there is a large outside accessory pocket and 2-way carrying system on top.
For players, that want some smaller bag options there is the Tour Team 6R Combi Tennis Bag and Tour Team 3R Pro Tennis Bag. The main differences in these two bags are just the size and amount of storage. The 6 pack has 2 main compartments for carrying up to 6 racquets, one compartment features CCT+ protection. There’s also an outside accessory pocket and an adjustable shoulder strap on top. The 3 pack won’t feature CCT+ technology, but does have enough room for 3 racquets as well as your main tennis essentials. On the side is an accessory pocket and on top is an adjustable shoulder strap.
Next is the Tour Team Tennis Backpack which has the most unique changes. It features a racquet compartment to fit up to 2 racquets and another integrated compartment for shoes to keep them separate from the main compartment where you can store extra gear. A side zippered pocket and side slip pocket provides you easy small storage access. There are adjustable backpack straps on back so you can grab n go.
Last but not least is the updated Tour Team Travel Tennis Bag. This bag comes with a stow-able telescopic handle which makes taxiing through airports and hotels easy. The bottom and edges of the bag are reinforced and protected from abrasions, and the 2 heavy duty wheels keep you rolling tournament after tournament. There are 3 main inside zipper compartments to keep your gear organized, along with 2 exterior zippered compartments for convenience.
