This year is no exception, and it starts from the ground up…literally. 20-year-old phenom Denis Shapovalov, and fiery Nick Kyrgios will sport brand new Nike Tennis Shoes for the tournament.
Denis Shapovalov’s Nike Vapor X Knit Tennis Shoes
Nicknamed the “Arctic Wolf”, Shapo’s Vapor X Knit is designed to be powerful and aggressive, just like the man’s playing style. While the name is an obvious callback to Shapovalov’s Canadian ties, the colorway also does a great job of depicting a frosty and fierce scene. The shoes come with what Nike calls a molded ice crystal swoosh, mint ice outsole with a scratch mark graphic, graphic sock liner, white frosted frame, and mint aglets. In all, the shoes definitely carry a unique “it” factor that will help them stand out on court.
What is a Vapor X Knit?
Nike Vapor X Knit Tennis Shoes were released on June 26, 2019, and introduce an innovative, redesigned upper for greater support and response. This is accomplished through the implementation of a stretchy inner sleeve and light, but strong circular-knit material. The inner sleeve is reminiscent of that used in the Zoom Zero. Polymer triangles wrap around the toe and medial forefoot to provide greater durability for toe draggers. Underneath, these dynamic shoes feature the same great technologies you know and love from traditional Vapor Xs.
Nick Kyrgios’ Nike Vapor X Kyrie V Tennis Shoes
Back during the 2019 Australian Open time frame, Nike released the results of a notable collaboration between Nick Kyrgios and Kyrie Irving: The Vapor X Kyrie V. These shoes were highly sought after, and sold out in virtually no time at all. If you missed out on copping a pair last time, you now have another opportunity. For Wimbledon 2019, Nike is launching a brand new colorway. These shoes will be the first “basketball” shoes to make an appearance on London’s famous grass courts, and are inspired by the colors of Kyrie’s former Boston Celtics. They come with a metallic gold swoosh, and color fade details on the frame, flytrap overlap, Kyrie/Court logo, and swoosh.
What is a Vapor X Kyrie V?
Nike Vapor X Kyrie V Tennis Shoes first came out in January of 2019. They put a fast, Kyrie-inspired spin on the tour-favorite Vapor X. In the upper, breathable mesh combines with a flytrap-style overlay that clamps down over the midfoot for a secure fit. The shoes feature a number of Kyrie Irving logos and detailing. Underneath, tennis players can expect the same technologies as in traditional Vapor Xs, such as a Zoom Air unit, a full-length foot frame, and XDR outsole.
