THREE of the four are in their mid-30s. Mirjana Lucic-Baroni is 34, Serena is 35, and Venus Williams is 36. I’m going to go ahead and say that if you’re young and discouraged in your game, take heart! The best is yet to come.
Venus hasn’t been to a semifinal in Melbourne since 2003. Lucic-Baroni hasn’t seen this round of grand slam play in ANY tournament since 1999. COME ON!!!!! To put that into perspective, Coco Vandeweghe was in first grade and hadn’t started playing tennis yet the last time Lucic-Baroni played a semi in a grand slam.
