Who’s Wearing What At The 2019 US Open!

It’s that time of the year! Crowds head toward Flushing Meadows in hordes, tennis greats gear up for their final shot at grand slam glory for the year, and most of us glue ourselves to our screens to witness some of the most remarkable rallies to ever be played. Tennis meets drama meets fashion during this fortnight in New York City; no wonder the US Open is one of the most anticipated events of the year! To celebrate the exciting lead-up to the fourth and final grand slam of 2019, here’s a round-up of what our favorite athletes are sporting in the fashion capital of the world!

1. Ashleigh Barty:

Barty has set her sights on the number one ranking and a second grand slam title. She has taken the tennis world by storm this season, but can she finish off her grand slam year in style?

She’ll be rocking the bright and sporty FILA Awning Color-blocked Tennis Tank with the Awning A-Line Tennis Skort. To complete her look, Barty will cover up with the Navy Blue Awning Jacket. With those popping colors (and hopefully some smashing tennis!), she’ll be hard to miss.

2. Novak Djokovic:

There’s no stopping the world number one! After surviving Federer at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, he now holds two of the three grand slams already played this year.

The defending champion will step onto the courts in the Lacoste Striped Jersey Polo in Blue and the Novak Stretch Woven Shorts in Navy Blue to match with the New York courts!

3. Coco Gauff:

Gauff’s Wimbledon debut has remained the talk of the tennis town well after the end of the tournament. She consolidated her success with a nice and neat doubles victory at the Citi Open to prove that she wasn’t just a one-hit-wonder.

With a wild card into the US Open and sky-high aspirations, Gauff will enter the arena in the New Balance Women’s Printed Rally Court Tennis Tank with the Printed Rally Court Tennis Skort. Both feature a vivid aerial view of New York City’s tennis courts for an unforgettable look!

4. Roger Federer:

As heartbreaking as his loss at the Wimbledon final was, one thing is clear: Roger Federer is as brilliant as ever. After wrapping up a successful fortnight in his tennis whites, he’s bringing back tennis blacks.

This all-black outfit (with some white on it) encapsulates Roger’s memories of playing under the lights at night in New York.
All ready for his 21st, perhaps?

5. Simona Halep:

After her early French Open exit, Simona Halep silenced all opposition with a decisive Wimbledon win. Does hard-court glory await?

Halep’s gear is all about celebrating the streets of the city. And it doesn’t get more New York than graffiti and torn Subway posters! The Nike Court Slam Tank, along with the Slam Skort, and the New York 2-in-1 Tank with the Nike Court Slam Short, are the two outfits that are on the cards for the Wimbledon champion.

6. Rafael Nadal:

The 18-time grand slam champion continues to dominate the tennis stage. Finalist in Australia, champion in Paris and semi-finalist in London; what will it be in New York City?

Rafa Nadal has kept his options open with both sleeveless tees and tennis crews. He will pair the New York Rafa Court Aeroreact Sleeveless Top and the New York Rafa Court Aeroreact Short Sleeve Top with the Nike Rafa Court 7 Inch Short.

7. Maria Sharapova:

One can’t talk tennis fashion without this superstar entering the conversation. Injuries may have cut her 2019 season short, but her style game grows stronger by the tournament.

In New York, Maria is channeling the iconic style of New York’s historic Studio 54 nightclub in the Nike New York Maria Court Dry Tennis Dress. In this fitted design with a deep V-neck and gathered waist, the Russian is all set to make her return to Flushing Meadows a stylish one.

8. Stefanos Tsitsipas:

There’s something to be said about the young Greek who dispatched Federer at the Australian Open and handed the King of Clay a loss (on clay!) in Madrid this year. Grass didn’t particularly agree with him, but from what we’ve seen so far, he has some breathtaking tennis in the tank for us.

He’ll be sporting the adidas Men’s New York Printed Tennis Top in Black and Grey Three, with the New York Melange Short in White. The adidas New York Varsity Tennis Jacket (and those gorgeous golden locks!) complete Tsitsipas’ US Open look.

9. Nick Kyrgios:

Kyrgios is no stranger to the spotlight! Whether it’s for his devil-may-care attitude, or his stunning play, the Australian has dominated recent tennis news. As we enter the drama-filled weeks of New York, it’s hard to imagine that he won’t be making any waves. At the very least, his outfit will! Like Halep, he’ll be sporting graphics inspired by the streets of the Big Apple.

For him, Nike has crafted the New York Court Challenger Top in White and the New York Court Advantage Tennis Polo in Black, to be paired with the Men’s New York Court Flex Ace Print Short.

10. Karolina Pliskova:

Karolina Pliskova has had quite the year, but her aggressive style and powerful serve are particularly well-suited to the hard courts. This is her time to shine!

She’ll be sporting FILA’s P.L. Rolando Tank and Skirt, which are inspired by the designs of FILA’s original creative director. The pieces incorporate the brand’s signature colors into sporty looks that are fit for New York.

So there it is: all the glam our favorite tennis powerhouses are bringing to the final grand slam of the year. Clothing sponsors have, as always, outdone themselves. It’s now time for the athletes to do the same (but no pressure!).
