American Tennis Pros – Part 3 of 3

Attempting to be one of the best tennis pros on the planet is no easy task. It takes grit and determination. In the last of this 3-part series, we’ll take a look at the top 50 female American players on the tour and learn some key facts about these amazing athletes as they make their way to being the best in the world.

The Women’s Tennis Association or WTA consists of 1650 players representing approximately 85 nations. Founded by Billie Jean King in 1973, their mission is to bring equality to professional women’s sports.

Using American superstars like Serena Williams as a benchmark, WTA players are training harder than ever. Among their regiments is time on the court and time in the gym. Nutrition also plays an instrumental role in their overall fitness, especially considering they travel for as many as 45 weeks of the year.

Let’s look at these go-getters and their journey thus far.

Top 50 WTA Tennis Pros

Amanda Anisimova is ranked No. 35. The 21-year-old has won 2 titles and more than $4 Million in prize money. Her tennis idols growing up were Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. At the age of 3, she moved to Miami and started playing after attending her sister’s practices. Off the court, she loves music, writing, and jet skiing.

Sloane Stephens is number 40. She started playing tennis at the age of nine and earned 7 titles in the early part of her career. Additionally, she won the U.S. Open in 2017 and has been as high as No. 3 in the world. Finding inspiration from her mother who was a collegiate swimmer, Sloane is passionate about giving back through her foundation.

Danielle Collins started playing tennis at age 3. Today she’s No. 42 in the world. Her favorite surface is the hard court, and in her off time, she enjoys going to the beach, fishing, and running.

A few more WTA Pros

Bernarda Pera is a lefty ranked No. 45. Although she was born in Zadar, Croatia, she plays for the US. Her career highlights include a title at the 2022 Budapest, Hamburg, and a doubles title at the 2022 Melbourne 250.

Tennis Pros

Shelby Rogers is ranked No. 46. For a couple of seasons, she played on the San Diego Aviators, World TeamTennis (WTT). Growing up, Steffi Graff was her childhood idol, and this is her second consecutive season in the Top 50. Shelby endorses Fila, plays with a Wilson Blade, and is coached by Piotr Sierzputowski.

Lastly, Lauren Davis is ranked No. 49. In 2017, she reached a career-high at 26 after a big win in Auckland. Recently she won in Hobart to claim her second title. She admires Nadal and believes they have the same tenacity and desire to win. Her favorite tourney is the Miami Open which starts next month, on Sunday, March 19.

Furthermore, there are more Americans up and coming. Players like Alicia Parks, Claire Liu, Alison Riske-Amritrajare, and Madison Brengle are also among the top 100.
