Things You Missed Thursdays – Nov 21

TYMT - Nov 21

They say life on the ATP/WTA tour is notoriously grueling: the constant travel, the intense workouts and matches, the pressure of a televised career. But by the looks of it on Instagram, our favorite tennis pros didn’t exactly suffer this week. Think beach vacations, cuddles with koalas, jaunts in the mountains and – for the men, anyway – lots of opportunities to suit up.

Roger Federer, Juan Martin del Potro and Alexander Zverev snapped a selfie while in Delpo’s home country of Argentina during their exhibition tour of South America. Here’s hoping the match spurred an even speedier return to the tour for Del Potro. We miss the guy!

Serena Williams paid a visit to the Nike headquarters in Portland and modeled the kicks of Kenyan long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge. She’s clearly trying to channel the world record holder’s speed. Right, as if she needs any help.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, fresh off of his ATP Finals victory in London, looked on top of the world. Fingers crossed he conquers Melbourne next!

Simona Halep looked radiant (ok and maybe a tad cold) while exploring the City of Lights. Not a terrible place to do her Christmas shopping!

Sloane Stephens and Donna Vekic figured that having sand between their toes was far better than tennis shoes on their feet. Hear, hear!

Ash Barty befriended a ridiculously cute baby koala named Cosmo back home in Oz. Forget the private jets and mansions. THIS is the celebrity perk we’re most jealous of!

Benoit Paire, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils, Reilly Opelka, Sam Querrey, Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz and Jack Sock all suited up for the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. Who shined up the best? We call it a tie between Team France and Team USA.

Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, kept it casual while posing for a pic with Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique. That is a helluva lot of athletic greatness in one room.

Eugenie Bouchard embraced Houston’s local fashion trends (and parlance) while in town for the Oracle Challenger Series. Then she followed it up with a taste of a regional delicacy: Popeyes. Girl knows how to travel.

Petra Kvitova smiled in front of what looked like an oil painting of the High Tatras mountains in Slovakia. A week in that alpine wonderland? No wonder she’s feeling refreshed.

Stan Wawrinka, Coco Gauff and Karolina Pliskova obviously don’t believe in an “off season”. The trio thought they’d get a head-start on the 2020 season. Major kudos!
